Safety Tips when using Taxis

It is safer to book your cab or Taxi directly from a company or an individual you trust and ensure the vehicle and driver is Licensed correctly. Licensing measures are there to help protect you the public and as such it is important that you the customer should follow these guidelines...

Only Taxis with the sign on the roof saying "TAXI" are legally licensed to be Flagged down on the streets, Private Hire Cars must be booked in advance. That is not to say that Private Hire cars are unsafe but just that they are licensed for a different purpose.

All Taxi and Private Hire Vehicles carry identification or Licensing numbers at the front and rear of the vehicle, make sure they are visible, the driver must also be displaying his/her badge which will have a photo of the licensed driver along with his/her driver number and will be issued by Bristol City Council. If he/she does not have a badge visible do NOT get in the vehicle. If you have a complaint against a driver these details will help find out whom the driver is.

If you are unfortunate enough to have a problem with any TAXI or Cab and are unable to resolve the situation through the management you should complain to the relevant licensing authority, in the case of BRISTOL it is of course BRISTOL City Council.
